At California Fish Plants, we strive to provide high-quality fishing tackle, including jigs, spoons, lures, plastics, line, and scents. We understand that sometimes a purchase may not meet your expectations, but due to the nature of our products, we maintain a strict return and refund policy to ensure fairness and efficiency. This policy applies to all purchases made through our online store.
Please note that this policy complies with California Civil Code Section 1723, which requires us to disclose our refund terms clearly since we do not offer full cash refunds, exchanges, or store credits within seven (7) days of purchase without restrictions. By making a purchase, you agree to these terms. We do not offer exchanges or store credits—refunds are issued only to the original payment method.
Eligibility for Returns
- Returns are accepted only within 7 days from the date of delivery (as confirmed by tracking information). We recommend 7 days as it aligns with a strict policy while allowing a reasonable window for inspection, based on standard practices for non-perishable items like fishing tackle.
- Items must be unused, unopened, in their original packaging, with all tags, labels, and accessories intact. There must be no signs of wear, damage, or use.
- Proof of purchase (e.g., order confirmation email or receipt) is required for all returns.
Exceptions and Non-Returnable Items
- Final Sale Items: All discounted or sale items are final sale and non-returnable, non-refundable. No exceptions.
- Opened Packages: No refunds or returns for any opened, used, or partially used products, including those with seals broken or packaging tampered with. This is strictly enforced to maintain product integrity.
- Perishable or scent-related items (e.g., scents) are non-returnable once opened or used.
- Custom or personalized items (if applicable) are non-returnable.
- We reserve the right to deny returns if the item does not meet our conditions or if we suspect abuse of the policy.
Return Shipping
- Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs. We do not offer free returns.
- Returns must be shipped with a trackable method (e.g., USPS, UPS, or FedEx with tracking number). You must provide the tracking number when initiating the return.
- We are not responsible for lost or damaged items during return shipping. We recommend insuring the package.
Restocking Fee
- A restocking fee of 15% of the item's purchase price (excluding shipping and taxes) will be deducted from your refund to cover handling, inspection, and repackaging costs. This fee applies to all approved returns and helps ensure only necessary returns are processed.
Refund Process
- Refunds will be issued only to the original payment method used for the purchase.
- Once we receive and inspect the returned item (which may take up to 7 business days), we will process your refund within up to 30 days. This timeframe accounts for thorough quality checks and administrative processing.
- Refunds do not include original shipping fees or any return shipping costs.
- If your return is denied (e.g., due to condition or exceptions), the item will be shipped back to you at your expense.
How to Initiate a Return
To start a return, email us at hello@californiafishplants.com with the subject line "Return Request - Order #[Your Order Number]". To process your request efficiently and verify eligibility, you must include the following detailed information in your email. Incomplete requests will not be processed:
- Full name (as on the order)
- Email address associated with the order
- Phone number (including area code)
- Order number
- Date of purchase
- Date of delivery (with proof, e.g., tracking confirmation)
- Item(s) being returned (include product name, SKU if available, quantity, and price paid)
- Detailed reason for return (e.g., describe any issues in at least 100 words to help us improve)
- Photos of the item in its original packaging (front, back, sides, and any tags)
- Proof of purchase (attach order confirmation or receipt)
- Intended return shipping method and estimated tracking number (once shipped)
We will review your request within 3-5 business days and provide approval or denial via email. Do not ship items without our written approval, as unauthorized returns will not be accepted or refunded.
Additional Legal Information
- This policy does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws, including remedies for defective or misrepresented products as required by California law (e.g., implied warranties under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act).
- For defective items, contact us immediately with proof (e.g., photos) for potential resolution on a case-by-case basis, which may include a refund or replacement at our discretion.
- We comply with all relevant federal and state laws, including those governing consumer rights and data privacy. If you believe your rights have been violated, you may contact the California Attorney General's Office.
